so 2006. not really anything god awful happened, it was just kind of meh. some really great things happened, but for the most part is was just kind of boring. not to mention that i started sophomore year, which has (so far) rightfully earned its reward as most pointless year ever. but i did get 99th percentile on the PSATs without preparing for it. take that, standardized testing.

for some reason, my upstairs neighbors like to walk around the room right above mine at all hours. in heels. sometimes they move furniture. other than that, they're cool people.

i'm reading about the hitler youth. the book is very boring. i will tell pukky about that.
i need to find a bass teacher.

blah. i don't know why this whole thing bothers me so much. probably because i have to arrange my schedule around her stupid face and go somewhere else to that they can be alone and do whatever it is a boring woman and people like him do when they're alone.

so basically i've been hating him for the whole night.
i think it's the fact that i had to help him prepare for her arrival that i really hate. i don't so much mind the fact that i have to be out for the weekend, mostly that i have to be any part of it. and also that she's "sleeping" in my sister's room. actually, no. the fact that she's staying in my house at all is what really bothers me.

basically, she's going to have to be fucking amazing for me to like her. and from what my sister's said, she's not.

edit: okay, so last night i was just being a completely entitled baby. i realized this whole thing bugged me because some woman i've never met it staying in my house. so i'm meeting her tonight and i'm good with that.

and now i have to go see spelling bee and be out of my house soon.

so i can't explain how seriously amazing camp was. i loved every single minute. and, like sophie, i doubt i could do it any sort of justice if i wrote about it in here.

it was a whole lotta fun. everyone was so cool.
i mean, what other camp do you know of where you can walk down the hallway and first hear like 20 different bands and one of those bands will be singing about an alien invasion? right. i didn't think you'd think of one.

i saw peaches last night. she was amazing.

and she did fuck the pain away. and sang it from the audience. people held her up and it was so cool.
and JD Samson from le tigre is playing with them. and her drummer is hott and so is the rest of her band.

So queer prom was...um...yeah.

2/3 of the time we were there, it was pretty much a drag show. pilar and i were very confused for much of the night. but! we looked excellent, if i do say so myself. oh. i just did.

but when we started dancing, we did normal emokid pilar and dana dancing, and 2 women from the dyke march said we were the cutest things they've ever seen! we won the award! lesbians think we're the cutest EVER!!! but then we got bored and i got uncomfortable because my sister was trying to make me uncomfortable, so we left and took a cab to pilar's house.

oh, and then we watched really bad soft-core porn from 1983.

sophie, i remembered part of my dream.

i was in a really well-furnished alley, and i was talking to people, and i started asking this one person to play a song for me while i sang. and the song that i sang ended up being 'it sucks to be me" from avenue q, but it wasn't from avenue q, so i came to the conclusion that avenue q ripped off whatever musical it was from. and i got really mad because avenue q is awesome.

and i also sang really well.

in other news, sufjan has not been added to the lollapalooza lineup

hi, guys.
i'm bawk from new york, and i'm not going to school today becuase i would only be there for 1 period (even if it is math.) but i'm going to sit by the lake and take pictures and do my english homework.

this weekend was DANA! LOOSE! IN! NEW! YORK! CITY.
I drove to new york, in the van, with my friends.

except we didn't drive. we took a plane.
and it wasn't with my friends (it was with my dad and sister)
other than that, it's accurate.

Okay. So saturday morning-ish we got there, and we got in the cab at 11:12, and i was mad because i missed 11:11! shoot! anywho. We went to our hotel, and it was a good hotel, right off broadway on the upper west side. right by holden caulfield's house! and i know why holden lived on 71st now. that's where all these like super gigundo mansions are.

So after we got settled in the hotel, miranda and i went to get lunch, and we got pizza at this place on 78th, and they had garlic rolls which were extra good.

After that, we took miranda up to her thingy and dropped her off. My dad and i walked around campus after that, and it is BEAUTIFUL! It was raining basically all weekend, but that's okay because universities in the rain are really special, i think. sun and rain. usually not snow, though.

anyway, then we went back to the hotel and made dinner reservations and such.
the place we went for dinner was awesome. not a hipster "we're such trendy people" place. it was really relaxed and everyone was so nice. also, the host guy looked like jess from gilmore girls. it also helped that the food was amazing.

after dinner, we took a cab down to greenwich village, to CBGBs. The band (tea leaf green) was really crappy, but it was amazing to see CBGBs. I can't even imagine all the history behind it. and the fact that the talking heads, the clash, the ramones, and tooons of other people played there is madness! madness, i tell you!
so after that, it was to the hotel and then to bed.
Yesterday morning, we had bagels from this place on amsterdam called bagel talk (if you were the concierge person, it's pronounced bagel "tooawk." oh, new york.) and then i napped a little at the hotel, and we headed up to campus for a family thing, and it was lovely. and the sun finally came out a little bit.

and we had dinner at this really bad diner across the street from the hotel, and went back to the hotel and i did homework.

i listened to death cab, and sat in the little window seat at the hotel, and looked down at the street and stuff, and it was just...amazing. it was like in a movie.

our flight back to chicago was delayed an hour and a half. the guy next to me was reading this book called "heaven is here!" or something like that. and now i wanna read it because it looked really funny. while we were still on the ground, i finished the easy and the moderate sudokus, and half an hour after we took off, i finished the diabolical one. it was silly.

and now i'm off to the lake. hope your weekends were all good and such.

a certain becca has been such a trooper with this whole femme fatale thing. and telling her was probably the best thing i could have done. she's got connections. german-speaking connections.

ahhhhh. so i'm going to new york this weekend. and i get to miss advisory, so take that.

french project with al is over and thank god because i can't understand a word he says, and he's also incredibly annoying and doesn't have any sense of what looks good. because he wears sweater vests. also, he talks about how much he hates gay people, which is code for "i'm a flamer, i want to kill myself."

I wish sophie would come on soon. On second thought, i need to get homework done, so scratch that. I love my sophie but i need to know what to ask in classes before tests/missing most morning classes monday. so sophie, if you see this before i talk to you, i'm doing homework. or eating chicken. yummm.
